FERTITEC’s latest Expert Panel Meeting
The FERTITEC project successfully organised its latest Expert Panel Meeting, bringing together project partners and external experts to discuss project progress and gather valuable feedback on the Multi Criteria Assessment (MCA) with the purpose of identifying the best available technologies for recycling/recovering nutrients for alternative fertilising products.
The meeting opened with an introduction to the FERTITEC project. Participants were then presented with the technical, environmental, and socio-economic assessment of the project’s selected case studies.
A key focus of the meeting was the development of FERTITEC’s Multi-Criteria Assessment (MCA) framework, which aims to support the identification of the most suitable technologies for recycling and recovering nutrients for alternative fertilising products. Through interactive discussions and breakout sessions, Expert Panel members reviewed the proposed criteria, identified potential gaps or overlaps, and provided feedback on their clarity and applicability. Participants also contributed to the evaluation of the criteria through a Mentimeter exercise, helping to prioritise the factors that should be considered in future assessments.
The meeting also showcased two important tools developed within the project. Participants received an introduction to the Knowledge Exchange Platform, which serves as a collaborative space for accessing project resources, exchanging knowledge, and engaging with stakeholders across the alternative fertilisers value chain. In addition, the consortium presented the AI-powered EcoFerti Tool, designed to deliver personalized recommendations for optimal use of alternative fertiliserssupport fertilisation decision-making.
